Dr. Sırma Karakaya’s study co-authored with Prof. Dr. Burcu Balçık from Özyeğin University has been published as an article titled “Developing a National Pandemic Vaccination Calendar under Supply Uncertainty” in Omega.
Motivated by the vaccine supply uncertainty experienced by many countries during the COVID-19 pandemic, this study proposes a novel two-stage mathematical model to support the long-term planning of national pandemic vaccination calendars. The model accounts for critical factors such as multi-dose vaccines, varying dose administration protocols, and uncertainties in vaccine delivery. Analyses conducted using real COVID-19 vaccination data from Norway demonstrate the applicability of the proposed model under pandemic conditions and highlight its decision-support potential for public health authorities.
