The article titled “Towards Sustainable and Low-Delay Wireless Sensor Networks: An Integrated Multi-Objective Optimization Approach with Selective α-Coverage and Connectivity,” co-authored by TED University Industrial Engineering faculty member Dr. Elif Zeynep Serper and Dr. Ayşegül Altın-Kayhan of TOBB University of Economics and Technology, has been published in Pervasive and Mobile Computing. The study develops an integrated multi-objective optimization approach for wireless sensor networks that jointly extends network lifetime, reduces end-to-end delay, and maintains selective coverage and connectivity requirements. The results show that the proposed approach can more than double network lifetime compared with delay-centric designs, reduce average delay by 35% compared with lifetime-oriented models, and preserve the same performance levels while using up to 50% fewer sensors.
