This study develops novel optimization models to design platooning-enabled hub networks, while explicitly accounting for uncertainty in cost savings. Truck platooning is not just about fuel efficiency — it's a transformative solution for more sustainable, cost-effective, and reliable freight transportation. Through the developed model, cost decreases by an average of 8% and up to 42% more shipments reach their destination within one day compared to direct shipping.

This work is the outcome of a TÜBİTAK 2219 Postdoctoral Research Fellowship, conducted over one year at the University of Waterloo.
